Pronouns: She/Her E-mail: [email protected] What I do for UNSA: As president I act as figurehead and representative of the UNSA executive, in regard to relations with the University of Ottawa and all levels of government. I represent UNSA on various round tables and council meetings, as well as oversee and assist with all UNSA events and support VPs with their roles. About me: I grew up in a small(ish) town two hours away from Ottawa. You can always find me at a concert (or sitting in the queue waiting to buy tickets for another one), buying new plants or traveling with my friends. |
Sarah Priest
Vice President, Finance

Pronouns: She/Her Email: [email protected] What I do for UNSA: As the VP Finance, I am responsible for working with all members of the executive team and making to an annual based on each executive’s plans for events, fundraisers and other activities. I manage spending throughout the year and make sure the budget it stuck to and make any necessary changes. I also represent UNSA on the UOSU Finance Affairs Round Table and submit an audit to them. About me: I love to adventure, whether it is around Ottawa, camping or traveling, so I would love to be a flight nurse! My goal is to go to all the continents. I spend my free time reading, journaling, or with my friends and family! |
Mary-Ann Ugwu

Pronouns: She/Her E-mail: [email protected] What I do for UNSA: As VP communications I manage all our social media and our website. I also make and send out the awesome monthly newsletter. I create promotional posters that are posted or sent in emails to keep students up to date on everything that’s going on with UNSA as well as opportunities for you guy’s as nursing students. I am a point of contact for anyone who has questions about anything nursing school related or who want UNSA to inform nursing students about opportunities they have to offer! About me: I’m a Nigerian out-of-province student from Saskatoon Saskatchewan but was born in the States! I love re-watching New Girl, Grey’s and OTH and taking 3 hour long naps. Anyone who knows me is fully aware of my love for kids so I can’t wait to be a peds nurse at CHEO once I graduate! I also want to get my masters someday so you might see me as a Nurse Practitioner after I do some travel nursing! |

Pronouns: He/Him E-mail: [email protected] What I do for UNSA: I act as a liaison for all academic pursuits of UNSA regarding the uOttawa campus and the student body. I organizing the UNSA mentorship program and arrange the nursing handbook publication. Most importantly, I assist students in the uOttawa stream in the resolution of academic issues. About me: I'm from North Bay, ON and return there every summer. During my summers I work at a francophone summer camp! I love reading, playing or listening to music and exploring. First years might recognize me as a CA in Leblanc. |

About me: I am in my third year of nursing in the Woodroffe stream where we are getting into maternity, paediatrics, mental health and med surge placements! My favourite pastime is to be outside, preferably by the water! In the summer you can always find me out in the sun, either by the pool or on the dock by the lake! I even took a break this summer to work outside selling strawberries! |

Pronouns: She/Her E-mail: [email protected] What I do for UNSA: As VP philanthropic for UNSA, my role is to act as a philanthropic coordinator and ensure that students have the opportunity to give back to their community. My duties are include arranging for a charitable donation on behalf of our UNSA team, organizing a team to fundraise for Relay for Life, and helping to organize Shinerama to fight cystic fibrosis About me: I'm from a small town North of Toronto, and love to adventure! I hope to become a travelling nurse early in my career in hopes of always being a "global citizen" wherever I travel. I've always had a passion for supporting local charities since I was a wee child and I am glad to be in a position where that is the main focus! I also form a link between UNSA and IPHA (Interprofessional Health Association) - tool to evaluate self or others used by healthcare professionals About me: I am also a part of the uOttawa Alzheimer's Alliance. I am super passionate about working with those with neurological disorders and hope to work in a related field once graduating! Pronouns: She/Her Email: [email protected] What I Do for UNSA: I am responsible for organizing social events for our student body throughout the school year, and for planning 101 Week for our incoming 1st years. My goal is to connect students and give them the opportunity to get to know each other throughout their nursing degree. In a busy program like nursing, it’s important to take a break from studying every once in a while. UNSA social events give students the chance to have some fun and make connections with friends that can last a lifetime. About Me: I love spending time with friends, spontaneous adventures, and having a good laugh. I am interested in critical care nursing and hope to eventually become a primary care nurse practitioner. |

Pronouns: She/Her E-mail: [email protected] What I do for UNSA: My role is to promote the representation of all two spirited individuals including, but not limited to members of the LGBTQ+ community, First Nations and Métis people, minority groups, those with different abilities and any other disadvantaged groups in leadership roles and daily activities. I’m also responsible for ensuring bilingualism, as well as finding solutions to sensitive ethical issues in a confidential and respectful environment. About me: I come from a small town named Tiny around 6 hours away from Ottawa. In my spare time I enjoy spending it outside hiking and reading novels! In the future I aspire to work as a ER nurse or paediatric ICU nurse. Then I hope to obtain my masters and become a nurse practitioner or attend med school. |

Pronouns: She/Her Email: [email protected] What I do for UNSA: I am the point of contact between the faculty at Algonquin Woodroffe campus and its students within the collaborative program! Throughout the year, I collaborate with VP uOttawa and VP Pembroke to draw attention to any inconsistencies or concerns within the program and advocate for the same experience across the campuses! I help support the students, listen to any concerns, and help to find solutions to any issues. About me: I was born in Northern Ireland, and moved to Canada when I was roughly 5 and a half years old! I love kayaking, swimming, cottage weekends, spontaneous adventures, or even reading a book on a rainy day - I don’t necessarily have one favourite thing. I hope to become an ER Nurse. After getting experience, I will pursue my Masters of Science in Nursing (MScN) and eventually teach future BScN students! Maybe even become a Nurse Practitioner. |

I relay and address any issues and concerns from the Pembroke campus to UNSA. I also aid in communication between students and staff. About me: I’m a twin! One thing I wish I knew when beginning nursing school: Rely on your other nursing school friends. At the end of the four years they become family. You are experiencing the same problems and difficulties— don’t be afraid to talk to one another! . |
Leanne Trepanier

Pronouns: She/Her E-mail: [email protected] What I do for UNSA: I maintain a good rapport with the Director of Nursing and other senior faculty members as well as keeping UNSA executive council informed of any relevant activities of the CNSA and vice-versa. I act as the voice of uOttawa at CNSA conferences and meetings, and make sure that the objectives of the CNSA are met and distribute relevant CNSA material to the UNSA student body. About me: Being in my fourth year I am hoping to work in the emergency department once I graduate! I love to travel, spend time with friends/family and stay active. During the summer, I work as a floral designer for weddings which is a lovely change from all the alcohol swabs. I will say, I am also a fiend for reality TV and a devoted super fan of Below Deck. I’malso a great aunt (not because I’m old but because I’m great) to my cat Frankie. |

About me: During my free time, I enjoy playing sports such as volleyball and basketball and I also love painting and drawing. After completing my RN, my goal is to become a neonatal or pediatric nurse practitioner because I have always loved working with kids. |

I joined UNSA because I am from back West and it was a really great way to make friends and feel included in our nursing community. About me: I love doing activities and being outside. Some of my favourite things I’ve done this semester is going apple picking, shopping at local boutiques and visiting museums around Ottawa. |

Maggie Zhao

Pronouns: She/Her E-mail: [email protected] What I do for UNSA: I shadow the vice president of finance to gain insight and experiences on managing student funds for UNSA next year and help out when needed! Some tasks involved in my role include helping to organize invoices/receipts into the document for the audit and helping to keep track of budgets and updating the logbook for UNSA. About me: I was practically born and raised in America until third grade and moved to Toronto, and then Ottawa for University. I don’t have a definite specialty I want to pursue yet, so I hope my clinical placements will help me find the answer. I also love listening to K-pop and watching Korean dramas:). I hope to attend a K-pop concert someday and/or visit South Korea to taste some traditional Korean food and visit some of their major tourist spots like the N Seoul Tower! |
