I CONTINUE TO SEE INFORMATION ABOUT 101 WEEK FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA,
THE UOTTAWA STUDENT UNION (UOSU) AND YOU GUYS. IS IT ALL THE SAME?
THE UOTTAWA STUDENT UNION (UOSU) AND YOU GUYS. IS IT ALL THE SAME?
101 Week is jointly organized by the University (the administration and other staff of the University of Ottawa), the UOSU (uOttawa's student union representing ALL students) and the UNSA (the Undergraduate Nursing Students Association - that's us!). The University organizes general events throughout the week for all students. The UOSU organizes its own 101 Week, but we participate in their large-scale events. We, like all student associations, organize our own 101 Week for nursing students. We organize a full week of activities for new nursing students to welcome them, introduce them to their new environment and make them feel comfortable here at the University of Ottawa.
Summary: UNSA 101 Week = UOSU 101 Week + Nursing Student Events

SO, BOTH UOSU AND UNSA ARE SELLING 101 WEEK KITS. SHOULD I BUY BOTH?
No! The UNSA 101 Week kit includes access to all major events organized by the UOSU.
WHY SHOULD I BUY A 101 WEEK KIT?
Purchasing a kit helps fund the 101 Week events you'll be attending! You'll receive a t-shirt, a wristband for participating in events, and nursing swag. During the week, you'll be designated a “101er” (A.K.A. a first-year student).
THE KITS SEEM TO BE EXPENSIVE.... IS IT WORTH IT?
If you were to ask a second-, third- or fourth-year student, they'd probably tell you that a 101 Week kit was their best college purchase. Not only do our kits contain quality items, coupons, information and useful goodies that can help you throughout the school year, they also give you access to some of the best events of the year! During the week, you'll have unforgettable experiences and the chance to make friends with other nursing students!
WELL, I'M CONVINCED. WHERE AND WHEN CAN I BUY MY KIT?
You can buy a kit online on our website! Kit pick-up begins at the start of 101 Week, in early September. Once you've purchased and picked up your kit, you're fully registered!
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME WHEN I PICK UP MY KIT?
Bring photo ID and your date of birth (e.g. driver's license, health card, passport, etc.); you'll receive a bracelet indicating your age.
DO COURSES TAKE PLACE DURING YOUR EVENTS?
As everyone has different schedules, we try to minimize major events during classes. For on-campus events, feel free to come and go as you please.
SOME OF YOUR EVENTS ARE DESCRIBED AS 18+, BUT I'M 17.
WHAT SHOULD I DO DURING THESE PERIODS?
WHAT SHOULD I DO DURING THESE PERIODS?
For every 18+ event, we organize another inclusive event for all ages.
I'M 18, BUT I DON'T REALLY LIKE PARTIES OR CLUBBING.
CAN I ALSO TAKE PART IN THE ALTERNATIVE EVENT?
CAN I ALSO TAKE PART IN THE ALTERNATIVE EVENT?
Absolutely! You are free to attend any event you prefer.
I HAVE A DISABILITY THAT MAY MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR ME TO TAKE PART IN CERTAIN EVENTS. WHAT CAN I DO?
We always try to create an environment where everyone can participate. All our events have been made as accessible as possible. Please feel free to contact our VP of Equity ([email protected]) prior to the start of the week if you have any specific concerns. We'll do our best to make your experience as pleasant as possible!
I'VE LIVED IN OTTAWA ALL MY LIFE AND HAVE ALREADY VISITED THE CAMPUS. SHOULD I COME TO 101 WEEK?
101 Week is especially important if you're from Ottawa. Students who live at home don't usually integrate as much into the university community as students from out of town. You should participate so you can meet others in your program, learn useful tips about university life and, at the very least, have some fun before classes start!
